Few people know that Phenom Penh hosted the Olympics back in the 60s. That’s because it never happened. Nevertheless, they have an olympic stadium, which according to this wikipedia article, besides some torture and exectutions back in the Khemer Rouge days, hasn’t hosted anything more significant than the World Organization of Volleyball for the Disabled World Cup.
It’s a neat place to hang out, where lots of people are playing soccer and flying kites and generally doing weird Asian exercises. I sat in the stands for a while and drank a sugarcane and lime juice.
